Mandate

Génitique was mandated by the Cégep de Jonquière Automated Production Centre (CPA) for the implementation of the project.

This simulator can be used for the formation and training of the operating and maintenance personnel in a factory or for academic purposes to students attending the Cégep de Jonquière.

Project

Design and manufacturing of a modular and removable continuous process simulator dedicated to the formation and training of the plants’ operation and maintenance personnel.

The process simulator has three sections, including one section of reservoirs holding water, one section with circulating pumps, piping and necessary valves for circulating water through the reservoirs, and one section with control cabinets containing programmable controllers.

Two control systems, which include a ControlLogix PLC and a DCS Delta V system, can drive this simulator via dedicated operating stations.

These control systems are independent and separated from each other, and they cannot control the simulator simultaneously. The instructor must choose one single system, through a 3 plug-in connector hookup before turning on the selected control system.

Objective

The goal of a process simulator is to facilitate learning and/or maintain and improve acquired technologies implemented during the construction of a new plant and/or its modernization thereof.
