Génitique conducted the analysis required for integration of the various storage devices and methodologies into a single database. The database had to guarantee that the data can be read for a period of 50 years. Samples are tracked throughout the process, from receipt and final storage until subsequent use.

Génitique also handled the generic interfaces for tracking at the various workstations.

Project

The Génome Québec Biobank is designed for storage of biological and non-biological samples with the potential to impact or interact with human health. The facility is used to support major projects like CARTaGENE and ECOGENE. The Biobank is located at the Chicoutimi Regional University Hospital Centre and serves as the technological platform for Génome Québec.

Its mission is to archive biological samples for a period of up to 50 years. These samples can be archived in three specific ways: cryo-preservation at -70oC or at -175oC, or preservation at room temperature on blot paper.
